JWs' Letter to Dateline

i just got a copy of the society's letter to dateline as to why they would not agree to an on-camera interview.. they said that since dateline told them that most of the people that they were interviewing considered themselves active jws, that for the headquarters to make a statement that it would make it appear as though "brother" was speaking out against "brother".

and that a nationally televised program was not the appropriate forum for them to work out their differences.

(this is interesting since the pandelos and barb have been dfed, haven't they?).

It really kills me.....You know even the Catholic Church got on TV and expressed that they had empathy for the victims and their families... they even admitted that there was a problem, and said they would work to correct it. NOT ONCE did JR BROWN say anything to console the family, as you would think a 'loving elder' would do. What makes them feel so 'almighty' that they can't acknowledge the victims. Not to mention the fact that they probably didn't want to have to answer why their 'policy' is to protect children, yet they on tape encouraged Bill to just 'take their word for it, and not get yourself in a bind' (not exact words, but you get the point). In the state I live in, you are REQUIRED BY LAW to report abuse even if you only "SUSPECT" it and may have no direct knowledge of it. Now, if the secular governemnt, Satan's world if you will, requires that, shouldn't a "divine organization" such as the WBTS require more???? UGH they disgust me!!!

Good call Tiger! I think I'll share a portion of a conversation that I had w/ my (physical) sister.... Here's a brief snyopsis of the conversation: It had to do w/ our BORG parents giving me, my oldest sister, and my brother "conditional" love.....I said to my borg sister (the other 2 are smart like me: He's DF'd/She's Inactive, like me)"no matter what my child (I have a 3 yr old)might do, I would love her anyway, I would NEVER turn my back on my child. I might disagree w/ her choices, but I would never have conditions on my love for her". Her response you ask? "Even if it meant that she would die, you'd love her anyway"?.... My answer:"yes I would, and all the more so". How sick and twisted is that? Coincidentally, she has no children, and can NOT have children, therefore she will live her whole live believing in the borg, and believeing she has some sort of clue about the love you have for your children, based only on what she "thinks" she has with our parents......I pity her, I truely do. How many people do you know in the borg that has no children, that thinks they have it figured out about children??? Anyhow just had to share....I also pointed out to her that, the bible teaches love, without conditions, it's the most sacred institution in the bible, and yet "the organization rips families apart". She disagreed w/ me when I told her the policy that Umtiger quoted from, which is on the "Official WTBS" website.....she said I had the wrong website....unfortunatly I don't have her email address...as we've barely spoken in 2 years because I'm not "doing what I'm supposed to be doing"!!

Funny, my life is sooo peaceful without them in it!!

Hello to all!! Haven't posted in awhile, as I'm very busy these days. But with being awakened this morning to the FRONT PAGE of the Tennessean....I had to post. Just to let you guys know, I've contacted the Staff Writers at the Tennessean, to give them a little insight, and to back up the allegations of Ms Anderson.... Hopefully she will see this post, and I'd like to take the opportunity to say to her and all the other now "former" JW's....Thank you for your courage, and thanks for being true to yourself and your code of morality which is obviously a lot higher than the "borg". Because of your courage, all those who have been silenced for soooo long, may now have the courage to break the silence, and come forward. Remember, now, you can really begin to live and enjoy life, in a world free of judgemental, extremeist JW's. Let's celebrate...my hat goes off to you!!

how to sue the WTBS?

i was just wondering i was in the organization 38 years and i feel cheated out of all those years i was in.

or how about when your disfellowshiped and your family alientates you from their lives.

Umtiger, I think you're right that the public opinion is what will make the difference; since, that's what makes them thrive. Besides that, the exposure could change the legal view of JW's and the WTS as well, since they are such law-abiding citizens!! ROFLMAO :) None-the-less, that's not to say that the courtbattles are no longer important. I think since there are so many vicitms, that they are entitled to some sort of compensation(not financial), even if it's just to bring out the injustices that are being done. It can also be a sense of emotional healing as well, to actually admit that the WTS is not what we were taught and STOP feeling guilty. To actually get to the point, I've never heard of anyone actually suing the WTS, who hasn't been 'apostate', but I'm sure if one searched long enough, some dirt would turn up.

I thought I was the only one with a story like yours..........I married at 18 and I moved out of my families home to be with this guy. We'd already be "made" to break up b/c my sister saw hickies on his neck the night after he spent the night in our basement. The funny thing is we got back together and "vowed to make it work"....well, long story short; he snuck up to see me one weekend when they were out of town and some of our "CONCERNED brothers and sisters" noticed his truck at my house....so of course that spread like wildfire and got back to my sister. He had gotten sick while "hanging out" (goin to the mall, eating dinner.....not a filty dirty sex weekend...just normal teenager stuff)and he ended up spending the night....after trying to cover my a$$, the brother that I ask to be our "chaperone" ended up staying too....well the next thing you know MY OWN SISTER called the elders in congregation to tell them that she didn't think it to be proper that we get married in the hall for our "immoral behavior"....ok so like a PG movie....ohhhh kill me already. Anyhow the catch is that his father...(the closest man to Jesus... as my EX mother in law put it)made sure that his precious name and his son's precious name was spared by making sure we got married in the KH and he did the talk...Oh but the story has another catch or two....we didn't have sex that weekend....but we did have sex in his parents home the night he gave me my engagement ring!!!HA HA....well fast forward about 2 years, we had a horrible argument and he pushed me around....then this began to happen often, then the day of one of the conventions we got into it bad, and he decided not to go....convieniently enough he began again to push, slap, hit and choke me....then he left to go to daddy's house......I went to daddy's house to show him what he'd done to me and ask for help.........Brother Christian proceded to tell me that he wasn't goin to embarress his name in front of his neighbors and that I needed to leave.I said ok and told him the police would pick him up there. They did and he spent the night in jail.....then he got "probation" and had to do community service....guess what he did????? THE FIELD MINISTRY is what he did for his community service...and daddy had his friend verify the legal paperwork......That was all that ever happened to him in the congregation..............Needless to say we divorced less than a year later and in their eyes I am EVIL.....I am proud to say he is no longer my problem, but he did get another one and they were married exactly one year ago on my birthday....I think she may be 18 now!!!

I'm also proud to say I'm remarried to wonderful (NON JW)man, and we now have a beautiful 3 year old daughter who Santa Claus is coming to see!!!

I remember being little and just when I really started liking The Smurfs cartoon show, someone told my mom that they were DEMONIZED!!! Therefore no more Smurfs. I also remember in the late 1970's someone claiming that the Proctor-Gamble "symbol" or icon on the back of Crest toothpaste( and other products I don't remember) was SATANIC!!
Oh yeah and then I was not allowed to watch ET; because once again it was DEMONIC!!! Funny, JW's know everything about DEMONIC or SATANIC issues..............coincidence.......I THINK NOT!!!
